I’m originally from New Jersey and since the age of 13, I became interested in aesthetics. After high school I attended beauty school and graduated obtaining a cosmetology license. I’ve since worked in aesthetic services. After moving to Florida, I took a short leave of absence then began attending an esthetician course where I obtained my esthetician license. I truly enjoy working in the beauty industry. I get a wonderful sense of satisfaction and enjoyment interacting with my clients—while making them look and feel refreshed, renewed and glowing. I am well versed in treating various types of skincare issues, and customize my facials and/or body spa services in order for them to achieve optimal results. When I’m not working, I love going to the gym and bike riding. I also enjoy finding and trying new recipes/culinary dishes for those Sunday dinners with family. I’m a great baker as well! What is a facial?
A basic facial is a skin treatment that cleanses pores, exfoliates away dead skin cells, and treats common skin concerns with a custom mask. This multi-step process is meant to rejuvenate and nourish the skin, making skin appear healthier and younger. It is also a popular spa treatment to pamper and relax, right up there with a massage. When booking a facial appointment, it’s important to first consult with our esthetician and discuss your skin type and skin care concerns—as well as issues you want to address during your treatment. For example, do you want your esthetician to focus on improving acne, like extracting blackheads? Or, are you interested in learning about products and techniques that promote anti-aging? Our esthetician will be able to go over everything with you before the treatment and recommend the very best treatment options for you. Skincare consultations are complimentary in order to customize and address your specific needs.
What happens during a facial treatment?
Each facial begins with a consultation that helps the esthetician determine the right products for your skin type and concerns. Once that’s been determined, the relaxing part begins! Most basic facials include some version of the 6 steps listed below. 1. Steaming: Steam opens up your pores and helps loosen any buildup of dirt for a deeper cleanse. Opening up your pores softens blackheads, making them easier to remove. It also promotes circulation. (The combination of warm steam and an increase in perspiration dilates your blood vessels and increases circulation.) 2. Cleansing: The esthetician massages a cleanser into the face and neck to remove any traces of makeup and dirt. Using warm water paired with a facial cloth or cotton pad, she will remove the cleanser, dry your face, and reevaluate your skin. 3. Extractions: This process is done to clear individual pores that have become clogged with excess oil or dead skin cells, which can form blackheads and acne. The esthetician will perform the extractions with a special metal tool made of medical grade steel called an extractor. 4. Mask: The esthetician will then apply a custom mask(s) to treat oiliness, or a hydrating mask to combat dryness, calm the irritated skin, and/or whiten pigmented skin. 5. Massage + Moisturizer: Typically, most facial treatments will end with a moisturizer that is massaged over the skin. 6. Sunscreen: Our skin works to protect us from harmful ultraviolet radiation, which is why we should always use sunscreen to protect our skin. Even on cloudy days, our skin is susceptible to the sun's rays which can lead to skin cancer, discoloration, and wrinkles over time.
How often do I need a facial?
Our skin renews itself every 4 -6 weeks, so therefore once a month is the magic number for facials if you don’t suffer from breakouts or other major skin issues. If you do have problematic skin, you may need to do a course of treatments closer together to treat the problem, and then you can go once monthly to maintain. Dermaplaning: Dermaplaning is a simple and safe procedure performed by our esthetician for exfoliating the epidermis and removing the fine hair on the face, commonly known as peach fuzz. The treatment has been used for many years and was mainly used to remove facial hair. Dermaplaning is also a great solution for those who cannot have Microdermabrasion or facial waxing, but desire that clean and polished look and feel. Chemical Peel: A chemical peel is a procedure in which a chemical exfoliant (acid or base) is applied to remove damaged layers of skin on the face, neck, arms, legs or hands. Chemical Peels are graded (very superficial to deep) depending on the depth of penetration and the layer of skin that is removed with a peel. Depending on the amount and depth of damage, real improvement in sun spots, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation may require different depth of chemical peels. What are the benefits of a Chemical Peel? Corrective peels have been shown to be an excellent, non-invasive way to improve skin tone and texture as well as reserve aging effect caused by the sun, environment, and genetics. Chemical peels are effective for a broad range of problems including: . Sun damaged skin and age spots on the face, hands, shoulders, chest and neck . Fine lines and wrinkles including: Crow’s feet, lipstick lines, fine lines around eyes, hyperpigmentation, acne scars (better with medium/deep peels), and Micro needling.
